In
its simplest terms, Options is the first realization of a vision. The
dream involves building new spirit of acceptance within the community.
People who are labeled disabled would not be separated into different
"human service" world's, segregated away and beyond the reach of
everyday society. Instead, community members would come to know,
understand, and help support their neighbors who have different needs,
but who have the same feelings.
The goal is not specifically to make people with disabilities independent, but to build an interdependency with other people in the community. That is, Options strives to encourage relationships which benefit everyone who is connected with the experience.
